Can you tell us about the origin of the band name, a history of the band and a little bit about the various members?

We’re from Pigalle in Paris, The name ‘Sex Shop Mushrooms’ truly embodies who we are. There’s an absolute joy in making noise with others.

Are you all from the same area? How did you get together as a band?

We all live in the same city, we found unity because of the anger and passion we all share

Who are your favourite artists/bands and how have they influenced your own sound?

We would say: Gargantua, System of a down, Wunderhorse and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, because they truly come alive when performing their music on stage.

Did you always have the ambition to be a musician and in a band or did you originally have other plans?

We all have day jobs, but our true passion lies in conveying our message through music. No matter where our music takes us, our goal remains to spread our message

What songs or albums are on your current playlist?

Watch Yourself, Black Out from Turnstile, Dead Silence from Billy Talent, Loco Contigo by DJ Snake

Do you sing in the shower?

No we fuck in the shower

Do you have any plans for the band for this year and into next year?

We’re kicking off a tour in Brittany in 2024, followed by more dates in Îlede-France.

Do you currently have any new songs/albums ready to be released?

Yes, you just need to come watch them live, or wait until next spring

If you could play at any venue in the world where would you choose?

At the QG Oberkampf with Chris Theps, or at the Plévin Venue in Brittany, our dreams are soon becoming reality

Do you have a favourite album? If so, what is it?

We would say: 7 waves from Suzanne Cianni and Estate of Instant from the Skallywags

Do you have any guilty pleasure songs/albums?

Yes of course: Mylène Farmer with “Je suis une catin”

If you were putting together the greatest show on earth, who would be playing?

With Going Forward, best live band we’ve ever seen

Can you remember the first album you bought with your own money? What was it and do you still have it?

That was: Songs for the deaf, Philippe Catherine, Abba, and Jeff Buckley Grace
