Can you tell us about the origin of the band name, a history of the band and a little bit about the various members?
Comaniac is a fusion word from “company” and “maniac” and describes our manic hunger for contemporary Thrash Metal. No one will ever be able to copy the 1980s classics so why even trying?
We are currently releasing our fourth studio album since the formation in 2012. After countless tours in Europe with bands such as “Metal Church”, “Overkill” and “Vektor” we played our own Japan Tour in 2018. Our most famous member is drummer “Stef” who also used to play for “Triptykon” a few years ago.
Are you all from the same area? How did you get together as a band?
We are from the same area and were thrashing clubs in our teenage years way before we were together in the band. I guess we are the core of that time that is still living for the music with full passion.
Who are your favourite artists/bands and how have they influenced your own sound?
Besides all the legendary Thrash Metal bands we are highly influenced by progressive music from Opeth, Symphony X, Nevermore or Leprous just to name a few. We have huge respect towards bands who created a unique direction within a genre like Opeth did with Death Metal.
Did you always have the ambition to be a musician and in a band or did you originally have other plans?
It was the decision from the first minute to dedicate our lives to music and hasn’t changed since then. We are trying to do the best music we can but we’re still the same plebs struggling with our own tunes every day.
What songs or albums are on your current playlist?
I just discovered the Austalian band “In Malice’s Wake” which I really enjoy at the moment. I am also looking forward to hearing the new “Soen” album which was released a few weeks ago. Still didn’t find the time to really listen to it.
Do you sing in the shower?
Of course, but only in head voice trying to do harmonies to “The Odyssey” by “Symphony X”
Do you have any plans for the band for this year and into next year?
We are trying to tell as many people about our newest album “None For All” out October 13, 2023. Live concerts will play a big part within this plan for sure.
Do you currently have any new songs/albums ready to be released?
The full length album “None For All” will be out on October 13, 2023 and available on CD and vinyl. Until then we are dropping single releases so we definitely recommend everyone to follow our socials and look out for our Spotify and YouTube channel.
If you could play at any venue in the world where would you choose?
We played at “Zeche” Bochum in 2017 with which is a legendary location in Germany supporting “Overkill”. We had to play right at the minute the doors opened which was rough because there weren’t too many people in the crowd. That was just a poor organisation in general and I would love to go back there and play a proper show because the club is really cool.
Do you have a favourite album? If so, what is it?
I could name my favourite album from every favourite band, but in general? No way! I can say though that the album “…And Justice For All” was probably the one that influenced me the most in my teenage years.
Do you have any guilty pleasure songs/albums?
I really enjoy listening to the “Born To Die” album by “Lana Del Rey” from time to time.
If you were putting together the greatest show on earth, who would be playing?
Definitely “At The Gates” and “Coroner”, everything else would be extra.
Can you remember the first album you bought with your own money? What was it and do you still have it?
I remember buying the albums “Garage Inc.” by Metallica and an “Apocalyptica” album as my first albums. I was listening to “Mutter” by “Rammstein” and “Meteora” by “Linkin Park” already at that time but had to borrow them from my older brother.
As your fans will be reading this, is there any message you would like to send out to them?
Always ask yourself: “what can I do for my team?”
