Can you tell us about the origin of the band name, a history of the band and a little bit about the various members?
For sure! The band name is something we all agreed on, but thought of by guitarist Xander. Originally, he was thinking, “Roses”, but it seemed more difficult to look us up that way. Plus, this way our acronym is R.A.D. that’s pretty rad.
A bit about each member:
Xander: Started the band, he has been playing guitar with Stevo, our other guitarist for a long time.
Stevo: other guitarist, childhood buddies with Xan, they both share lead guitar parts for songs they write.
Dakota: Our brother that grew up in Kalispell, that we met once everyone relocated to Boise ID slaps da Bass and is a fellow elder emo.
Weston: Smacks the pots and pans for the band. Currently actually resides in Utah, but drives this way for shows in the area. He’s our tracks/computer expert as well
Twitchy: I run the vocals for the band, a blend of harsh and clean singing. I write lyrics with Xan depending on what song. We have a good thing going where he can write a full song when I burn out, haha. In a way, we are all like family now. We’ve been doing this since 2017 and I can’t really see us not hanging out and making tunes.
Are you all from the same area? How did you get together as a band?
We all got together as friends to make music really. Most of us are Idaho Potatocore kids. Xan and Weston started jamming together first and filled out the rest of the members later.
Who are your favourite artists/bands and how have they influenced your own sound?
I love Motionless In White a lot. So that inspires me to do clean/harsh vocals. I think Chris Motionless is a crazy good front man. They also just seem like nice guys. I’m also really into Bad Omens and Linkin Park. Just awesome vocalists.
Did you always have the ambition to be a musician and in a band or did you originally have other plans?
I wanted to get through school and be an Engineer or something, but I don’t have the drive to get through school, haha. So I’m kinda using music as my escape from that 9-5. We all work day jobs for sure, but we would love to tour someday playing music for people.
What songs or albums are on your current playlist?
Scoring the end of the world- Motionless in White
Midnights-Taylor Swift I am a big swifty honestly thanks to my partner haha.
Fearless (Taylor’s Version, clearly)
I also listen to a LOT of Queen.
Do you sing in the shower?
I am more of a car singer. Whenever I’m trying to get somewhere, I’m probably working on vocals. I feel too weird singing in the shower, haha. I live in an apartment and don’t want anyone hearing.
Do you have any plans for the band for this year and into next year?
Yes! We are working on more singles. Personally, I want to have 3 songs done by the end of the year. But honestly, we just want to have fun with people jamming shows.
Do you currently have any new songs/albums ready to be released?
We have a couple in the chamber, but are still working out the finals.
If you could play at any venue in the world where would you choose?
I don’t really care where, as long as the crowd is having fun. If it’s 3 people or 1000, as long as people are having a good time, that’s the venue I want.
Do you have a favourite album? If so, what is it?
I really like Lover by Taylor Swift. It’s the album that made me a swifty. I can’t exactly pin down why, it’s just really relaxing.
Do you have any guilty pleasure songs/albums?
Funny enough, a lot of young gravy. It’s not my typical type of music, but it’s all so catchy and fun.
If you were putting together the greatest show on earth, who would be playing?
Hmmm, I recently went to eras tour, I feel like Taylor Swift would have to be there. Foo Fighters, and Motionless in White. MIW won’t fit the vibe, but the concert is for me and I’m selfish hahaha.
Can you remember the first album you bought with your own money? What was it and do you still have it?
So my first albums were bought together. Morning View by Incubus, Collective Soul self titled, Nevermind and In Utero by Nirvana. I still have them! Nirvana got me into grunge type vocals and Incubus got me heavily into clean smooth vocals.
As your fans will be reading this, is there any message you would like to send out to them?
I don’t feel like we have a lot of fans, but I love the ones we do. They make it worth it, hopefully they enjoy our goofy energy and know how much they keep us going. We aren’t big and maybe we never will be, but the friends and fans we have made are all awesome.
