Bad Ass Beauty – Me

LaQuinta Prince aka Bad Ass Beauty is an R&B vocalist who is now stretching her skills into the genre of rock (and doing an extremely good job of it too!) She was educated at the esteemed Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, and cites her musical influences as spanning from Led Zeppelin to Chaka Khan, Beyonce to In This Moment.

Me is her latest single released today (24/02/2023) and is a great mix of pop, rock and soul, with just a hint of her R&B roots showing through.

The track is a full-on rock track, with great guitar riffs, funky basslines and energetic drums, just as any good rock track should have, but it is the vocals on this track that really stand out to me, as well as the lyrics. Empowering people to be the person they aspire to be, to look up to themselves as inspiration and to be the confident person they were always meant to be, this song, to me, has a very positive message and it portrays this in a very upbeat way.

Prince’s vocals, as mentioned, are so strong, powerful and full of attitude that you would think she had been singing rock songs her whole life! Musically the song is spot on with hooks and riffs that will get in your head and the lyrics, themselves, are extremely catchy and you will be singing the chorus over and over again in your head for hours to come.

This is an awesome rock track, that is full of boldness, assertiveness and, indeed, defiance and this is absolutely fantastic to see and hear! This is a woman with balls and her mission to turn rock music on its ear by mixing it with R&B and soul, is well on its way!

Incredible track that I could have listened to on repeat again and again!
