GAZ are a “modern-classic rock band with retro vocals, foot-tapping grooves and powerful guitar riffs” and Some Are Gone is their latest track, released on 19/12/2022.
Starting almost 20 years ago in the city of Barcelona and ignited by a passion for music, “three friends set out on a journey to create music that lifts the spirit and entertains the crowds” and Gaz was born.
The band have a discography that is full of rock, pop, and rock n roll, reminiscent of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, and this track has been written in much the same vein, with even a hint of country slipping int here.
It is a guitar driven track, the riffs both classic and bluesy at the same time and the solos epic enough to think you have been transported back to the 70’s and 80’s. The drumming is laid back at times, but more full on when it needs to be and the basslines help to keep the song solid and strong.
The vocals have a slight country twang to them and this mixed the classic rock base the track has works really well.
The track has a solid tempo to it, and although not quite a ballad, it is not upbeat either and there is a slight melancholy feel to it. The choruses are big as the verses build up to them and there is great singalongability to the track.
This would appeal to classic rock, blues rock and country rock fans alike and I was pleasantly surprised when I first heard it. I hope to hear more from them in the future!
